Volunteer School-based education program

Kalyani conducted a two day training program on menstrual hygiene management for the first batch of volunteers on 26th- 27th August, 2017. Over a series of interactive discussions and group exercises, topics covered included basics of menstruation, the menstrual cycle, the physiology behind its monthly occurrence, effective menstrual hygiene management and the role of men in this process. The training ended with microteaching that enabled our 11 volunteers to run menstrual hygiene management awareness classes in schools across Kathmandu Valley.


Since the inception of school based MHM program, 335 adolescents (M: 189, F: 146) from seven public schools have been reached. These interns are expected to run 30 MHM sessions during their one year of internship. Students from 6th to 10th grade were included in the workshops. Following is the list of schools where our volunteers have successfully run menstrual hygiene education workshops:
